Our Story
Gandhi Seva Samithi began with a simple belief: that no family should go without food, medicine, or dignity because help didn't reach them in time. Based in Alampatty, Madurai, we work directly with families — coordinating fast, practical support instead of long procedures.
We are not a large institution. We are a community-driven service group that responds quickly — often within a day — to genuine need, using direct contact through phone and WhatsApp rather than paperwork-heavy processes.
"One day, an elderly mother looked at me with hope in her eyes and gently said, 'Could you please buy me a saree?'"
The very next day, I bought a new saree and went back to meet her. But when I reached the place, she was nowhere to be found.
Determined to find her, I searched for her address and finally reached her home. When I arrived, her family members refused to let me see her. I pleaded with them, and after waiting outside for nearly ten minutes, they asked me not to enter through the front door. Instead, they directed me to the back entrance, near the bathroom.
The same elderly woman who had asked me for a saree was lying there without proper clothing. Water had been poured over her body, and disinfectant had been sprayed around her. She had fallen, become bedridden, and developed severe pressure sores all over her body.
When I asked her family why she was kept there, they replied, "We are unable to care for her anymore, so we have left her here."
The moment she saw me, she folded her hands with tears in her eyes and asked, "Will you please take me with you?"
Without hesitation, I carried her to my home. I personally cared for her, arranged proper medical treatment, nursed her with love and dignity, and by God's grace, she recovered. Once she became healthy again, I safely reunited her with her family.
I realized that there are countless bedridden patients and abandoned elderly people who have no one to care for them with love and dignity. At that moment, I made a promise to dedicate my life to serving them.
For the past 20 years, our organization has been serving bedridden patients and elderly people with compassion, medical care, dignity, and unconditional love.
Today, we continue this mission with the same commitment. With your generous support, we hope to reach many more abandoned elders and vulnerable children, giving them the care, hope, and dignity they deserve.

There are countless people in this world who are confined to their beds due to severe illness or disability. They often remain completely unnoticed by society. Because of old age, accidents, paralysis, or chronic conditions, many spend months or years bedridden — suffering from painful bedsores and intense physical and emotional distress. In some families, due to extreme financial hardship or inability to cope, a tragic situation arises where loved ones silently feel helpless. It is our heartfelt commitment that no human being should ever have to endure such pain alone.
In today's fast-paced world, stroke, cancer, road trauma, and age-related complications are causing an increasing number of individuals to become bedridden. Unfortunately, many families lack the technical guidance and resources to provide proper home medical care. Due to inadequate training or lack of continuous assistance, patients often suffer from preventable complications like severe infections. With timely, expert, and empathetic intervention, many lives can be comforted and preserved.
In response to this urgent social necessity, Gandhi Seva Samithi – Bedridden & Elder Medical Care Centre was established. We dedicate our efforts to serving poor and underprivileged bedridden patients, abandoned individuals, patients left in hospital wards, and vulnerable elders in need of immediate relief. For over two decades, our team has carried out this noble work with unyielding dedication, transparency, and unconditional love.
Whether a patient is unconscious, in a coma, suffering from deep bedsores, completely immobile, or affected by chronic mental or physical illness, our promise is simple: we care for them with the exact same love, respect, and tenderness we would extend to our own parents or family members. We ensure their life journey is lived with comfort, peace, and human dignity.
Just as one hand alone cannot produce a clap, this massive humanitarian service cannot be sustained by a single individual alone. It requires the united support, cooperation, and goodwill of compassionate hearts like yours. Let us come together to bring hope, health, and dignity into the lives of those in greatest need.
